A fire breaks out in a large barn in Hatt, east Cornwall

A fire was reported at a large commercial property in the Hatt area of ​​East Cornwall, prompting a response from the Devon and Cornwall rescue services.

The Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that “several appliances” attended the scene early Saturday morning (September 25). Later reports said the commercial property was a barn and workshop in Vollards Lane, Hatt. Due to the fire and the emergency vehicles present, the A388 was closed in both directions from the scene to the A38 Carkeel roundabout in Saltash.

The St Dennis Community Fire Station reported that six pumps from Saltash, Callington, Camels Head, Crown Hill and Greenbank were present, as well as the Devon Aerial Ladder Platform and two water carriers (Liskeard and Plympton).

Firefighters urged the public to avoid the area due to the ongoing response.

Hatt is a hamlet in the civil parish of Saltash in the east of Cornwall. It is located approximately 20 minutes from Plymouth on the A388 between Callington and Saltash.
