5 km walk in Maine to return, in person, April 23

AUGUSTA – The 2022 Feed ME 5K Walk to End Hunger in Maine, hosted by the Maine State Credit Union, is scheduled as an in-person event scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at the entrance of the Kennebec River YMCA Rail Trail.

“While it’s a more low-key release this year, we’re excited to finally be able to host this in-person event,” said Stacey Dow, co-chair of the credit union’s social responsibility team, according to A press release. release of the credit union. “This will be a transitional year for us, having held virtual marches for the past two years; COVID has changed a lot of things. We hope many people will come out to show their support and/or even consider making a donation.

The credit union has held its annual Hunger Walk since 2006 and has raised $500,000 through this event alone. All proceeds from this event, as well as other events the credit union hosts throughout the year, go directly to many of its local hunger relief organizations.
